    Robinhood and AppLovin to join the S&P 500, sending shares soaring

    Buying and selling app Robinhood Markets, cellular app monetization firm AppLovin, and constructing firm Emcor Group, might be added to the S&P 500 later this month, S&P Dow Jones Indices introduced Friday. 

    Robinhood will exchange Caesar’s Leisure, AppLovin will take MarketAxess Holding’s spot, and Emcor will take Enphase Power’s place. The adjustments take impact on September 22. 

    The S&P 500 rebalances the index quarterly. No adjustments have been made in the beginning of the newest quarter in June.

    “The adjustments guarantee every index is extra consultant of its market capitalization vary. The businesses being faraway from the S&P SmallCap 600 are not consultant of the small-cap market area,” the S&P Dow Jones Indices stated. 

    Robinhood shares up following S&P promotion

    Within the minutes after the announcement, shares of Robinhood have been up 7.2%, whereas AppLovin rose 7.8%, and Emcor, 2.7%. 

    Technique, a bitcoin firm that was rumored to have presumably made the lower, was handed over. Its inventory took a 2.5% dive following the announcement. 
    The promotions come after Robinhood CEO and co-founder Vlad Tenev had expressed hope that the corporate may be a part of the S&P 500 quickly. 

    “It’s a troublesome factor to plan for,” Tenev said at the company’s annual shareholder meeting in June. “I believe it’s a type of issues that hopefully occurs.”

    The S&P announcement may increase Robinhood’s enlargement towards turning into a one-stop banking service: In March, the corporate introduced plans to launch Robinhood Banking, a service for its Gold members that would come with perks like having money delivered to you rather than having to go to the ATM. 

    Taxi firm Uber additionally acquired a lift: It has been promoted to the S&P 100, changing Constitution Communications, the S&P Dow Jones Indices introduced.
