Think back to the last really bad argument you had with your significant other. You know the one. It included multiple Olympic-worthy eye rolls, gratuitous mentions of mothers and/or best friends, and at least one callback to something only one of you remembers. Yeah, that one. According to a recent YouGov survey, American couples argue the most about tone of voice or attitude (36%), followed by communication style (29%), and then money (26%)—although it’s likely that couples arguing over attitude and communication may be experiencing residual financial (or…

I spent years in environments where the stakes of misplaced attention were immediate and visible: helping Jay-Z build enterprises at Roc Nation, then alongside the very talented team at Westbrook. What I watched in those rooms, and later confirmed as an investor, is that the people who moved the needle weren’t the most available. They were the most present. There’s a difference. And many organizations are quietly, systematically, rewarding the wrong one. We have built workplaces that optimize for responsiveness over results. The employee who replies in 30 seconds reads as engaged. The one who takes two hours because they…

SpaceX finally went public on Friday, marking one of the most profitable stock market debuts ever. The move stands to make Elon Musk, already the world’s wealthiest person, even wealthier, while turning many employees and early investors into millionaires and billionaires overnight. It’s been a long road for SpaceX. Founded in 2002, the company has built an array of businesses around one key achievement: mostly reusable rocket launches that have drastically reduced the cost of sending things into space. Today, SpaceX sells national defense satellite launch services, supports commercial space tourism, provides satellite internet to consumers and transportation companies, and…

When generative AI was new, the issue of how it worked with copyright law was poorly understood. Over the previous two decades it was generally taken as a given that the mass indexing done by search engines like Google was a necessary part of being on the internet. Google wasn’t reproducing the content—just showing users a headline and a link—so it always functioned more like a distributor than a republisher. {“blockType”:”mv-promo-block”,”data”:{“imageDesktopUrl”:”https://images.fastcompany.com/image/upload/f_webp,q_auto,c_fit/wp-cms-2/2025/03/media-copilot.png”,”imageMobileUrl”:”https://images.fastcompany.com/image/upload/f_webp,q_auto,c_fit/wp-cms-2/2025/03/fe289316-bc4f-44ef-96bf-148b3d8578c1_1440x1440.png”,”eyebrow”:””,”headline”:”u003Cstrongu003ESubscribe to The Media Copilotu003C/strongu003E”,”dek”:”Want more about how AI is changing media? When you’ve worked in the food industry for as long as I have, you start to recognize when an ingredient stops being a supporting actor and becomes the main character. That’s what’s happening right now with fruit. We’ve watched pineapple slices top upside-down cakes, fruit bowls land in lunchboxes, smoothies take over breakfast, and acai bowls become social currency. But what we’re seeing now feels different. Fruit isn’t just part of the conversation, it’s shaping it.
