Five years ago, I hit rock bottom. From the outside, my life looked like a highlight reel: scaling social enterprises, writing bestsellers, sharing stages with world-famous leaders. But behind the curtain, I was exhausted, angry, and disconnected. My health was crumbling under chronic pain, brain fog and a complete loss of purpose. The hard truth about burnout is this: you can look like you’re winning while you’re falling apart. I had pushed so hard, for so long, that I hollowed out from the inside. It wasn’t just overwork. It was a disconnection from what…

We’re trained to avoid failure like it’s a contagious disease. At school, failing wasn’t just about getting a bad grade — it was about getting labeled. It can feel like public shame dressed up as education. When you grow up in that kind of system, what you learn fast is: Don’t mess up. Don’t take risks. Don’t give anyone a reason to think less of you.…

But Alex is stuck. The founder is also the CEO, so there’s no clear path upward. When Glean CEO Arvind Jain thinks about the future of work, he doesn’t picture a chatbot waiting for you to type a question. He imagines a digital companion that knows your goals, your meetings, even the documents you’re writing, and steps in to help before you ask. That vision led him to found Glean in 2019 after more than a decade at Google and a successful run cofounding the data management startup Rubrik. Glean began as a search tool for company data. Over time it has grown alongside AI itself, moving from simple search to synthesizing information, reasoning through tasks,…

If you don’t want tough love, talk to ChatGPT about your problems. Chatbots have a reputation for being yes-men. They flatter you and tell you what you want to hear, even when everyone else thinks you’re being a jerk. That’s the conclusion of a recent study published in the Cornell University archive arXiv. Researchers from Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Oxford tested chatbots’ sycophantic streak by putting them in situations where the user was clearly in the wrong and seeing whether the bots would call them out. Where better to find bad behavior? Reddit’s “Am I the Asshole”…
