Lucid Motors said it is laying off about 18% of its U.S. workforce, or around 1,500 workers, in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday. The EV maker told Fast Company that today’s reductions are across many groups, including manufacturing. Xiaomi has just launched a fully automatic robotic arm that charges a parked car without human assistance. The equipment will be a new consumer device in the vast ecosystem of the Chinese auto and electronics giant, which published a demonstration video confirming that preparations for the mass production of the product are already complete.
