    Meta investigated over AI having ‘sensual’ chats with children

    A US senator is opening an investigation into Meta after a leaked doc reportedly confirmed the tech large’s synthetic intelligence (AI) was permitted to have “sensual” and “romantic” chats with youngsters.

    The interior doc, obtained by Reuters, was reportedly titled “GenAI: Content material Danger Requirements”.

    Republican Senator Josh Hawley referred to as the doc “reprehensible and outrageous” and has requested to see the doc alongside a listing of merchandise it pertains to.

    A Meta spokesperson advised the BBC: “The examples and notes in query have been and are faulty and inconsistent with our insurance policies, and have been eliminated.”

    They stated the tech large has “clear insurance policies” on what responses its AI chatbots can provide, and stated its insurance policies “prohibit content material that sexualizes youngsters and sexualized position play between adults and minors”.

    Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, introduced he was probing Meta in a post on X on 15 August.
